Book Review: Dirty Magic

Dirty Magic by Jaye Wells
Rating- B-
Age- 14+

Summary: The last thing patrol cop Kate Prospero expected to find on her nightly rounds was a werewolf covered in the blood of his latest victim. But then, she also didn't expect that shooting him would land her in the crosshairs of a Magic Enforcement Agency task force, who wants to know why she killed their lead snitch.

Review: Ok so to be completely honest I did something terrible. I judged this book by it's cover. I decided I didn't think I would like it from the very beginning. Normally I wouldn't read a book like this but I got it from arccycling so I thought I would give it a try. I didn't LOVE it, but it was a lot better than i thought it would be. I really liked Kate (although at times she got a bit annoying) and I thought the end of each chapter was so suspenseful. Would I recommend this book? Maybe. Did I have fun reading it? Yes!

Fangirl: Book Review

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
Rate: 9
Age: 13

Synopsis:  Fangirl is a coming-of-age story about fan fiction and first love. It focuses on Cath, who has been a fan of the Simon Snow books her entire life. When both Cath and her twin sister go to college, her sister begins to drift away from the fandom and from Cath, and Cath has to learn to exist outside her comfort zone.

Review: I loved this book so much! It was just about the cutest thing I've ever read. I felt like I could really relate to the main character (for once). At first I wasn't sure about the characters, but as the book went on there was amazing character development and I was left wanting more when I finished the book at 1 o'clock in the morning. I'm now really missing Cath, Levi, Reegan and Wren :( Well time to start the Lord of the Rings series.

Hollow City: Review

Hollow City by Ransom Riggs
Rate: A+
Age: 12+

Summary: This second novel begins in 1940, immediately after the first book ended. Having escaped Miss Peregrine’s island by the skin of their teeth, Jacob and his new friends must journey to London, the peculiar capital of the world. Along the way, they encounter new allies, a menagerie of peculiar animals, and other unexpected surprises.

Review: Okay so personally I liked this book even more than the first one. I had no time to read this week all all i wanted to do was read this book. The new characters were actually really funny and the wights and hollows have just gotten scarier. The ending was so surprising and I really can not wait until the next book.

Vampire Academy: Review

Vampire Academy
Rate- 8/10
Age-13+

Summary- Rose has just returned to St.Valdmirs with her best friend Lissa after escaping the school. Rose is a damphir meaning that she must protect a moroi (or a vapire who is part of a royal bloodline). That moroi is Lissa. Now Rose and Lissa must continue to be students at St.Vladmirs, but little do they know it's the most dangerous place for them to be. Rose must help to protect Lissa and discover her secret powers.

Review- Ok so I read this a couple weeks ago but I thought with the recent movie release I would do a review. So I know from the title/cover of this book it looks like your typical teen vampire book but its really not. It has a great mystery and I never would have guessed what happened in the end + you will ship Rose and Dimitri SO much. Anyway I really suggest this book to everyone and can't wait to read the next one in the series.

Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children: Review

Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children
Rating- 9/10
Age-12+

Summary- Jacob Portman, a 16-year-old boy, goes to Wales to find out the truth of his grandfather's past after he was murdered by what Jacob thought was a make-believe creature. When he arrives, he finds the home where his grandfather and the peculiar children stayed. That is where he meets Emma, a "strikingly pretty" girl who can control fire. She takes him to meet Miss Peregrine in a time loop set back in 1940. Jacob enjoys hanging out with the other peculiar children, such as Millard, who is invisible, and Bronwyn, who has incredible strength. Then Jacob is told some mysterious stories of strange killings in the pub he's staying at, and warns the peculiar children. When they tell Jacob he is the only one who can see the "hollows" or "hollowgasts", the monsters that killed Jacob's grandfather, Jacob knows he is the only hope they have for safety. Sorry this is from wikipedia I'm going to do my own summaries though

Review- Ok so personally I loved this book. I read it in one sitting. It was funny, crazy and had a great adventure. I loved the characters and i thought Jacob and Emma were so cute (even though *spoiler* she was Jacobs grandpas girlfriend). Anyway I thought it was really funny and had a GREAT adventure. I would recommend it to just about anyone.
